  • Class August 1, 2019- Energy-Telecom GUI Bug reports

    1. Submit and clear buttons should be disabled when we first open up the page as we cannot use them.
    2. Default input focus is missing.
    3. Default button is missing.
    4. Tab order is incorrect in the "Contact Information" field. From the first field "First Name" input focus moves to the "Referred by" field .
    5. Inconsistency in the dimensions of "Submit" and "Clear" buttons.
    6. "Clear" button doesn't work as supposed to. When you push the "Clear" button it gives an error message saying to contact Technical Support.


    "Contact information" part:
    8. "First Name"and "Last name" data input fields accept only 30 characters instead of 31.
    9. "ZIP" input field accepts letters, should be digits only.
    10. "ZIP" input field accepts non existent zips like 00000.
    11. "Email" input field accepts non existent emails in non email format. If you submit an email address without "@" sign and push "Submit" button the form gets accepted.
    12. "Referred by" input field isn't a required field but after pushing "Submit" button it comes up as a required one. So it should be disabled as a required field.
    13. "Referred by" input field accepts numbers and special characters, it should be letters only.
    14. Street Address" field accepts 100 characters instead of 255 characters.
    15. States in the "State" list box are not in the correct alphabetical order because of BC state which isn't US State so it shouldn't be given as an option.
    16. Indiana state is misspelled in the "State" list box. Instead of IN it's IND.
    17. In the "State" list box "Other" should be at the very end being the last option.
    18. In the "State" list box some states are missing. There are only 48 states instead of 50.
    19. Error in the "Email" field. "Email" field is a required field but if left blank after submitting the form it is not indicated as required field and let's the form to be submitted without email address. Should be enabled as a required field.
    20. "Email" input field accepts more than 255 characters when it should accept no more than 255.

    " Cell Phone Service" part:
    21. In "Current Provider" list box providers are't in alphabetical order.
    22. "My monthly bill is approximately" field accepts letters, should be numbers only.
    23. "My monthly bill is approximately" field accepts too many digits.
    24. In "Minutes on plan" list box there is inconsistency in given options.Different gaps between options. Like 30, 200, 400, 450.
    25. "Months left on current contract" list box should have more than 10 months or "more than 10" / "Other" option at the end.
    26. In "Months left on current contract" list box "Prepaid" option isn't logical as any amount of months left on the plan could be prepaid, so Prepaid option should be deleted.
    27. In "Number of phones on plan" list box there are too many options up to 100. No providers would allow 100 phones on one plan.
    28. "Number of phones on plan" list box is grammatically incorrect. It should be "Number of phones on the plan"

    "Local/Long Distances/International Service" part
    29. "International calls included" and "Long distance included" labels should have colon sing instead of question mark.
    30. In "Current provider" list box providers aren't in alphabetical order.

    " TV Service" part
    31. In "Current Provider" list box providers aren't in alphabetical order.
    32. In "Months left on plan" list box option "More" or "Other" is missing.

    "Home Security Service" part
    33. In "My monthly bill is approximately" too many digits are accepted.

    " Months left on plan" part
    34. In "Current Provider" list box providers aren't in alphabetical order.

    "Gas and Electric Services" part
    35. In "Current Provider" list box providers aren't in alphabetical order.
    36. In " I am opento using different provider" open to is misspelled.
    37. In "My monthly bill is approximately (summer):" and "My monthly bill is approximately (winter):" too many digits are accepted.

    5. State information is not in alphabetical order
    6. In the Cell Phone Service information "Months left on current contract"field doesn't contain 12 months.
    7. In the Cell Phone Service zone 3 check boxes are checked at the same time

    doesn`t have alphabetical order
    9. "Type of Service" in High Speed Internet Service zone has one check box instead of round
    10. ''Current provide in TV Service zone doesn't have ABC order
    11. "Current provider" in Home Security Service isn`t in ABC order
    12. "Current provider" in Gas and Electric Service isn`t in ABC order
    13. "I am opento using different provider" in Gas and Electric Service opento is written together which is mistake
    14. The buttons "Submit" and "Clear" are different size

    " are both still active if there is no text written in the field

      General

      - TAB order works incorrect. It skips "Submit" and "Clear" buttons;
      - "Submit" and "Clear" buttons should be the same size;
      - "Submit" button is enabled even when the form is empty;
      - After submitting the form all "*" signs (which indicate required fields) in "Contact Information" part become red except one of them which stays blue in "Email:" field;
      - Pushing "Clear" button gives an error;
      - The form does not have default button.

      "Contact Information"

      - TAB order works incorrect. After "First Name:" field it goes to "Referred by:" field;
      - States should be shown in alphabetical order in "State:" drop-down menu;
      - Incorrect abbreviation for Indiana (IND) in "State:" drop-down menu;
      - "Other" should be shown in the end of the list in "State:" drop-down menu;
      - Sentences in check boxes do not have ";" and "." signs in the end;
      - Each word should not start with upper case in "Best Way To Contact Me:"

      "1. Cell Phone Service"

      - Providers should be shown in alphabetical order in "Current Provider" drop-down menu;
      - "Months left on current contract" does not contain 12 months.

      "2. Local/Long Distance/International Service"

      - Providers should be shown in alphabetical order in "Current Provider" drop-down menu;
      - TAB order works incorrect. It skips check boxes in "Bundled with:" field, "International calls included?" field, "Long distance included?" field and "I am interested in Unlimited Calling:" field.

      "3. High Speed Internet Service"

      - TAB order works incorrect. It skips check boxes in "Type of service:" field, and "Bundled with:" field.

      "4. TV Service"

      - Providers should be shown in alphabetical order in "Current Provider" drop-down menu;
      - TAB order works incorrect. It skips check boxes in "Bundled with:" field, and "I currently have:" field.

      "5. Home Security Service"

      - Providers should be shown in alphabetical order in "Current Provider" drop-down menu;
      - TAB order works incorrect. It skips first check box in the part.

      - TAB order works incorrect. It skips the check box in the part;
      - The sentence in the check box does not have a dot in the end.

        GUI test to the Energy Telecom
        Did it from MacOS, Chrome browser

        1. General
        1.1 If we push button "Submit" when the form is empty we will see a list of errors in which the "email" word is missing, but it is line marked with a character "*". And the field "email" is not highlighted in red character "*"
        1.2 If we push button "Submit" when the form is empty we will see a list of errors where we see "Please enter the name of the person you were referred by", but the field "Referred by" does not have a character "*"
        1.3 There is no signature at the bottom of the site (company, year, etc.)
        1.4 Each title in the blue line is too close to the left, there should be an indent
        1.5 The page looks very empty, there are no buttons to navigate or anything else
        1.6 If the user has filled in the application and at the end decides not to send it, he tries to push the 'clear' button, but the application is not cleared and gives an error
        1.7 The buttons "Submit" and "Clear" has different sizes

        2. Contact information
        2.1 If we start press tab on keyboard first field should be "First Name" then "Last Name", but we have first field "First Name" then "Referred by"
        2.2 If we try to choose button "State" we have a problem with state BC (first one) - this is state of Canada, not USA
        2.3 If we try to choose button "State" we have a problem with alphabetical order - is it not correct
        2.4 If we try to choose button "State" we have a problem with line "other". This line should usually be at the end, not alphabetically or we need to remove this line
        2.5 If we try to choose button "State" we have a problem with line "IND" - this line should be "IN"
        2.6 The button "State" has only 48 state - should be 50
        2.7 All words in field name "Best Way To Contact Me" with a capital letter, but field name "Referred by" not. I think first field name should be modeled like field "Referred by"
        2.8 "Contact information" has the same style with other field names in this block, but it is like Title and must be understood by typical users

        3. Cell phones service
        3.1 The button "Current provider" has provider "Nextel" - this provider defunct from 08/12/2005
        3.2 The button "Current provider" do not have all providers on this moment and/or option "other"
        3.3 The button "Months left on current contract" do not have option "10+" or "other" or anything else
        3.4 Fields with buttons "Minute on plan" and "Numbers of phones plan" has different distance
        3.5 The button "Current provider" not an alphabetical order - is it not correct

          1.4. Graph "ZIP", in the data input fields, it is possible to enter non-existing postal code and submited it. Do not tie to the post database;

          7. Section "7. Gas and Electric Services ":
          7.1. On question " I am open to using different provider " there is no choice of answers "yes" or "no".

          8. PUSH button "Clear" on the bottom of the page not working. Error code "17896".

            Contact information:
            - Tab order going in wrong sequence: "Firs Name" -> "Reffered By:";
            - List of states doesn't have alphabetical order.
            - The entering a phone number does not going into next field by the own when using num lock panel, just when using Tab;
            - Phone does not have clear order. User supposed clear all fields separate;
            - "First name", "Last name" fields accept numbers and symbols;
            - ZIP code field accept letters;

            Cell phone Service:
            - Current provider does not have alphabetical order;
            - Current provider does not have "Other" option;
            - My monthly bill is approximately accept letters;
            - Minutes on plan does not have logic sequence;
            - Months left on current contract has limited amount of months (just 10);

                  Mac Os 10.14.3, Chrome version 72.0.3626.121 (official Build) (64-bit)

                  1. There is no error message for email field when left blank and submit button is clicked.
                  2. Some asterisks color changed, after submit button was clicked for empty fields.
                  3. "Referred by:" field is behaving as required, but it is not indicated as required by an asterisk.
                  4. State dropdown contains state abbriviations that do not comply with hhs.gov Web Style Guidelines.
                  5. State dropdown includes Canada province.
                  6. States are not in alphabetical order.
                  7. "ZIP" input field accepts alpha characters.
                  8. Section "1. Cell Phone Service", field "My monthly bill is approximately" accepts alpha characters.
                  9. State selection was cleared out after from submission that resulted in error.
                  10. Section "Local/Long Distances/International Service", field "Primary Phone Number:" is behaving as required, but not indicated as required by asterisk.
                  11. "Contact Information" section's tap order is not logical, it's going from "First Name:"to "Referred by:".

                    GUI "Energy-Telecom Service Review" page testing results.

                    Operating system: MacOS
                    Web browser: Safari

                    1.The default input focus has not being defined for this form.
                    Expected: To have a default input focus set for an initial field in the form for proper use input.
                    Actual Results: Form loads and user can type but input goes nowhere.

                    2. Tab order on the form is wrong:
                    Excepted: Tab from First Name goes to Last Name.
                    Actual results: Tab order jumps to last field in the section (Referred by).

                    3. No default button in the form has been defined.
                    Expected: IF a default button were defined as requirement we should submit the form by pressing enter, however the submit button also shouldn't be enable until users input any data in the form for the first time.
                    Actual Results: User can press enter and nothing will happen.

                    4. Submit button is active when we load the form initially.
                    Expected: Submit button should be disabled (grayed out) until user enter any value for to be submitted.
                    Actual Results: Submit button is usable from when form loads and sends an empty form to be validated. Form stops at validation with list of wrong values in each field.

                    5. Zip code validation is done after the submitting of the whole form which lowers the level for a good user experience.
                    Zip code validates for alpha numeric characters ($#@!, etc.) during text input, but accepts letters with numbers until submitting.
                    Expected: Zip code fields to validate with no more than 5 digits, no alphanumeric characters, and no letters during input from user.
                    Actual Results: Zip field accepts letter or combined with numbers. It should only accept digits and only validates after pushing the submit button.

                    6. Email fields accepts any text, no email address validation (@some.com, @somedomain.net, etc.).
                    Expected: Email field to check for valid email address format, (user@somedomain.com).
                    Actual Results: The form will accept any text entered by the user in this field.

                    7. Decimal validation not present on "My monthly bill is approximately":
                    Expected: digits with decimal capacity ($12.50, 15.99, 1450,00).
                    Actual Results: field accepts up to 12 digits.

                    8. "Number of Phones on plan" has a very long drop down instead of a simple text fields that could validate the maximum value of 100 ( not a good end user experience).
                    Excepted: a field to enter the number of phones in a text field.
                    Actual Results: a long drop down list of numbers to select.

                    9. "Months left in the current contract" fields has just 10 months, what if the user has a 2 year contract or more?
                    Expected: a field with a larger amount of months to be selected since contacts may vary from prepaid up to 36 months.
                    Actual Results: a field with values up to only 10 months.

                    10. In Local/Long Distances/International Service section the labels have an question mark.
                    Expected: labels should follow standard and be presented as colons not question marks
                    Actual Results: labels are presented out of standard with question marks (Long distance included? Should be Long distance included: )


                    11. "My monthly bill" has inconsistent digit input. It should accept decimals as in bug #3.
                    Expected: a fields capable to capture decimal values on all fields related to money values.
                    Actual Results: we do have a field like expected, however we should have the same pattern throughout the form for better consistency.

                    12. On "Home Security Service question" the user is prompted to enable or disable 2 fields, however if the user select values and enter values on both fields and then wants to revert back its choice this section of the form will not reset the value on the second field "My monthly bill is approximately:"
                    Expected: The behavior of the checkbox should clear all values if the user has already filled in any (as it makes unavailable by graying out the dropdown element).
                    Actual Results: The second field is locked but it keeps the entered value by the user.

                    13. On Section " Gas and Electric Services" - grammar error in field title (missspalling).
                    Excepted: I am open to using different provider.
                    Actual Results: I am opento using different provider.

                          - Open the application
                          - Fill out the required fields (leave the "Referred by" blank)
                          - Push "Submit" button - pops out the message with request to fill out the "Referred by" field, which has no asterisk next to it

                            1. Contact information:
                            - "First name", Last name", "City" fields accept numbers and symbols.
                            - State" is not in alphabetical order.
                            2. Cell Phone Service":
                            - "My monthly bill is approximately" accepts letters.
                            - "Months left on current contract"- only 10 months.
                            3.Local/Long Distance/International Service:
                            - "Current Provider" is not in alphabetical order.
                            - After "International calls included" and "Long distance included" should be colons.
                            4. High Speed Internet Service
                            - "Wireless Aircard" has a different "check" icon.
                            5. Home Security Service:
                            - "Current Provider" is not in alphabetical order.
                            6. Gas and Electric Services:
                            - No space left between "opento".
                            7. "Submit" and "Clear" buttons are different sizes.
